Our Services
For the last few years, our core business has been support schools where they are with their math programs. Given our partnerships with organizations such as the UCLA Math Project, Illustrative Mathematics, UnBoundedEd, Teaching Lab and others, we have a wealth of knowledge and a range of tools in the toolshed to help schools “move the needle” regarding their math instruction.
What To Use Our Services For
We can do anything and everything math wise and we will roll with whatever your conditions or systems are. We can also get multiple people on the work to make your vision a reality.
With that said, there are a lot of different approaches to moving student outcomes and data in math. Our work is to optimize your plan because we know the best plans are only as good as how it’s executed.
Based on years of experience, here are some suggestions for best practice to determine if you want to use our consulting services.
Best results happen when:
You have a leader/manager/coach who oversees math regularly.
Leaders and consultant align regularly to ensure quality control.
Support is prioritized and time is largely sacred to support teacher and/or leader development.
What and how of the work is clearly defined.
Good results can happen if:
If you want us to do this in lieu of a leader, report to the principal with regular in-person check-ins, and allocate enough labor to support and lead teachers.
If you know teachers need support, but can’t completely name exactly what the issue is. We can help thought partner this and/or get into it and figure it out.
We can do this if you are in a pinch, but not in the long term:
Delegate and trust to lead math if staff culture is in a good place.
Student facing services such as small group instruction for a limited time. All of our organization consultants have California Teaching Credentials.
Would not recommend using us/will not do:
If culture is the urgent level to support a school.
If teachers are covering classes so regularly, they do not have enough time to plan regularly.
Lead math or even do PD if staff culture is not in a appropriate space.
Sub plans or one time document services - not cost efficient for the labor.
Subbing (will not do)
If you know you have significant staff turnover pending at the teacher level.
Other things to consider:
We do come in less expensive than full time positions and our contracts reflect that.
School level contracts – we are willing to align with the network priorities, and do recommend it. It is additional charges for labor. It is worth exploring delegating work with leaders.
We have a long, proven track record to move student achievement data, improve teacher outcomes and morale, and leave leaders highly satisfied with the work. However – we DO NOT guarantee data outcomes We just follow best practices based on experiences that have shown to move data.
