About Us

The Math Yogis is an in-person, high-dosage math tutoring organization rooted in equity, academic excellence, and joyful learning. What began with a few dedicated tutors at just a couple of schools has grown into a movement serving 31 schools across urban Los Angeles. Founded by former math teachers, we focus on uplifting historically underserved communities, particularly Black and Brown students, through data-driven and relationship-centered instruction. Our research-backed approach has shown meaningful gains in student performance, including significant improvements on end-of-year math assessments. We prioritize placing professional, well-trained tutors in front of students, using real-time data to guide instruction, building authentic relationships, and collaborating with schools by integrating our services into the school day or extended learning blocks to ensure consistency and impact.
